2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Central
The 2008 Whelen Modified Tour season was a NASCAR touring season held from April 6, 2008 to October 19, 2008 composed of sixteen races. Ted Christopher finally added a championship to his Northeast racing resume, pulling off the title after coming so close just three years earlier. He held off a fantastic run by young Matt Hirschman, who made it a race to the finish before faltering in the final race (which Christopher won). Chuck Hossfeld led much of the early season in the defending Mystic Missile team, but a mid-season swoon left him 4th. Other winners included Todd Szegedy, Mike Stefanik, Ed Flemke, Jr., Jimmy Blewett, Ronnie Silk, and Ryan Preece, who set a record as the youngest winner in series history.
