Austin Cameron (January 24, 1977 - ) is a NASCAR driver from El Cajon, CA. He competed in two Sprint Cup Series, three Nationwide Series, and three Craftsman Truck Series events in his career. He mainly competes in the Camping World West Series, where he was the Rookie of the Year in 1998 and has collected 15 victories.
Craftsman Trucks
Cameron's Trucks debut came in 1999, when he competed at Michigan. He ran respectably in the event, completing all but three laps to finish 23rd. He improved significantly at Las Vegas, finishing a series-best 15th before crashing to 34th at Fontana to end his season.
Nationwide Series
Cameron's Nationwide (then Busch Series) debut came in 2000, when he competed at Nazareth for SABCO. Starting 40th in the field, Cameron only made it to 38th due to a crash. He only made one more start that year as a result, finishing 35th at Pikes Peak.
Cameron's final start in the series came in 2002, when he competed at Fontana for the first time since late 2000. Starting 42nd in the field, Camerson also finished 42nd following an early engine failure.
Cup Series
Cameron made his debut in NASCAR's top series with a 2002 qualifying effort at Sonoma. Starting 32nd in the field, Cameron lost his clutch early in the event and finished a disappointing 42nd.
Cameron's last major NASCAR start came in 2004, when he competed at Sonoma yet again. Starting 32nd in the field of forty-three, Cameron crashed a few points in the event and finished a disappointing 38th.
