| Ed Benedict is a former NASCAR driver from Miamisburg, OH. He competed in twelve Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning four top-tens.
Benedict's debut came during the 1951 season, when he competed at Rochester. It was not the kind of entrance the driver had been hoping for, as he struggled to 21st among the twenty-four cars. Unfortunately, he didn't fare well for the next few races either, as he struggled to 14th at Altamont and Detroit. But Benedict managed to turn it around the latter half of his season, recording a 24th place finish in a huge eighty-two car field at Darlington, and then showing 11th at Dayton and seventh at Shippenville.
Benedict only ran five races during the 1952 season, but it turned out to be his best year as Benedict placed 49th in the points. It started off well enough, for sure. Starting 12th in his first appearance at Atlanta, Benedict completed all but two laps in the race to record a career-best 5th place finish. After a poor 32nd finish in his race at Langhorne, Benedict finished no worse than 15th in his next three starts, including a 9th place finish at Dayton.
Benedict's final career race would then come in the 1953 season, when he competed at Columbus' only ever Cup race. Starting 11th in the field of twenty-seven, Benedict found a successful end to his career by completing all but eleven laps to finish in 7th.
