BIOGRAPHY
Ed Brown (March 15, 1920 - June 25, 2000) was a NASCAR driver from Meridian, CA. He competed in nine Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning two top-ten finishes.

Brown's series debut came in 1955, when he competed in four races to finish 53rd in points. His initial forays were extremely successful, piloting his way to 10th in his first start at Phoenix. Then, Brown was nearly in position to win the next race, leading 44 laps at Tuscon. But a late broken wheel there left him 7th. After that, his results slipped the rest of the year, managing midpack runs of 14th at San Mateo and 18th at Vegas.

Brown's next race was just a solo appearance during the 1956 season at the Willow Springs Raceway road course in Lancaster, CA. Despite starting 7th in the field, Brown slowly fell back in the race. After falling eight laps down, he ended his day in 23rd.

Willow Springs was also the site of Brown's lone 1957 season start. It was another so-so day for the driver, starting and finishing 17th after yet again falling a few laps down in the race.

Brown then did not return to the sport until 1961, when he competed at the Sacramento track. Brown again found mediocrity with a midpack finish, crashing to a 17th place finish late in the race.

Brown then made his next start in 1965 at Riverside, the same year Brown finished 5th in the Pacific Coast Late Model Series. Indeed, the Riverside race was technically a PCLMS-Cup combination race. Starting 23rd in the field, Brown had his best Cup run in nearly a decade, completing most of the laps to finish in 14th.

Brown's final career race came in 1968, when he made laps at the Riverside track once again. It was a respectable ending to his career, starting 38th but finding his way to a 21st place finish at day's end despite engine issues.
