| BIOGRAPHY
|
| Jim Austin is a former NASCAR driver from Boynton Beach, FL. He competed in seven Sprint Cup Series events in his career.
Austin's debut came in 1959, when he competed at Daytona. Starting 36th in the field of thirty-seven, Austin had a water pump issue early and finished a disappointing 33rd. But he made up for that in the next three races, recording a career-best 12th place run at Pittsburgh and then a 15th at Charlotte and 14th at Myrtle Beach. He also tacked on a 22nd place finish at Nashville to end the event.
Austin's other two races came in the 1960 season. He started off well enough, matching his career-best finish with a 12th place run at Richmond. But Austin was unable to end his career on a high note, struggling to a 50th place finish in the inaugural World 600.
