| Larry Hoopaugh is a former NASCAR driver from Charlotte, NC. He is a three-time champion of the Dash Series and recorded twenty-three victories in that series. In his national NASCAR career, Hoopaugh competed in eight Nationwide Series events, earning one top-ten.
Hoopaugh's debut came in 1982, when he competed at Charlotte. Starting 23rd in the field of forty, Hoopaugh lost his engine early in the event and finished a disappointing 36th place in the final rundown.
Hoopaugh then stepped it up to a four-race schedule during the 1983 season, though the year turned out to be quite miserable for the driver. Engine issues in each and every race hurt Hoopaugh's chances, only allowing him to earn a best finish of 29th at Charlotte. He did, though, make his first starts at Rockingham (30th) and Daytona (35th).
Hoopaugh drastically improved during the 1984 season, competing in his final four series races and winding up 51st in the year-end points. It didn't begin so well for the driver, struggling to 36th at Daytona. But the next week, Hoopaugh grabbed his best series finish - a 9th at Rockingham, before closing out his career with a pair of 24ths at Darlington and Charlotte.
