Ray Elder (August 19, 1942 - November 24, 2011 ) is a former NASCAR driver from Carruthers, CA. He competed in thirty-one Sprint Cup Series events in his career, spanning from 1967 to 1978. Elder raced on West Coast tracks and used his expertise to pick up sixteen top-ten finishes. Most importantly, two of those were victories: at Riverside in 1972 and 1973. Elder was certainly a force to be reckoned with, scoring top-tens in more than 50% of his starts.
