Tim Bender is a former NASCAR driver from Colden, NY. He competed in eighteen Nationwide Series events in his career. For most of his career, Bender was actually a world reknowned snowmobile racer, but moved to NASCAR in 1990. After mediocre years, Bender moved to Robbie Reiser's race team in 1997. He earned a pole at Atlanta and recorded a career-best finish of 17th at Texas, but a concussion knocked him out of racing for a number of races. His replacement was Matt Kenseth and the rest was history. Kenseth ran well, Bender was released and has not raced again.
Tim Bender combined his knowledge of Snowmobile and Stock Car Racing to develop the Cup Lites Racing Series. Cup Lites are 3/4 scale stock cars, that use snowmobile engines and ctv clutches to reach speeds in excess of 135 MPH.
