| BIOGRAPHY
|
| Elias Bowie is a former NASCAR driver from San Mateo, CA. He competed in one Sprint Cup event in his career. That came in 1955, when Bowie competed at San Mateo. Starting 31st in the field, Bowie finished the race despite being eighty laps down. That was good enough for 28th in the race.
Despite the quick one-off deal the statistics might show, Bowie's name will forever go down in the history books. He was the first African-American driver ever to start a Sprint Cup Series race.
