STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
On Friday qualifying, Nigel Mansell approaches the Shita curve too quickly, the last of the Esses series. His car is sliding, he tries to save the car , but his left wheels touch the wall at the exit of the turn. Unbalanced, the Williams accidentes from the back against a pile of tires, performs a terrifying leap and falls back on the track with great violence. Ringed but conscious, Mansell removes his helmet and screams in pain. He remains motionless, his head stiff. They evacuated him to the circuit medical center, he was rushed to Nagoya University Hospital and admitted to intensive care.
